WELCOME TO KANTO KANZA
Welcome to Kanto Kanza, whether you've joined or you're simply browsing by! Kanto Kanza is a Pokemon Roleplay Forum with emphasis on Generation I Pokemon! This means that most of the main journey and routes will offer trainers the ability to meet - and catch - wild Pokemon from the first Generation. Trainers may have to participate in various site events, or revisit old routes, other Generational Pokemon!
OUT OF CHARACTER
There are a set of various rules that we expect all members of Kanto Kanza to respect. Guests who wish to interact with the site, such as in the "guest friendly" boards and chats, will also be expected to adhere to our site rules. We reserve the right to warn or kick members who are purposefully breaking the rules, especially if they are being hurtful to other members.
Respect Other Members. This is a "common sense" rule that is reiterated, because we cannot just assume that everyone has common sense. This means that you should not flame or harass other members. This also means that should there be an altercation with another member, you should not handle the matter yourself. We're more likely to take thing more personally when we're involved, and less likely to use sound judgement. Even Staff Members are encouraged to seek the guidance of other Staff Members, if they are involved in an altercation with another member. Although, generally speaking, they are expected to hold a certain level of professionalism as Staff Members.
We do not dictate activity. A lot of sites require a certain level of activity from their members, and will often kick them from the site should they not adhere to their activity standards. Although this seems desirable for the site to function, we do not find this fair for people who also have normal lives off of the site. Instead, we simply ask you to consider whether or not you can be an active and functioning member of Kanto Kanza, and welcome you if you choose to join. We also politely ask that you level an "away" message, if you can, as well.
We ask members to keep one account. There are several reasons why members may like to have each of their characters separated into multiple accounts. This creates a lot of excess work to ensure that members are following and adhering to all of the rules and regulations related to character limits. Although, we would love to offer an unlimited amount of characters (and accounts), it becomes encumbersome on Pokemon sites due to all of the extra modding that goes into managing such sites. Please limit your total accounts to 1, or we may be required to kick excess accounts to ensure integrity across the site.
Our site is rated PG. Members are allowed to join as young as 13. Due to this fact, all of our boards and threads must remain PG. We also limit using "curse words" for strictly IC reasons within spoken and thought text, and sparingly. We also do not allow profane words that target demographics, race, religion, sex, or members of the LGBTQ+, regardless if it in IC or OOC. Members caught doing this may be kicked without a warning. Be thoughtful, be kind, and be respectful.
In character rules are simply the standards that we hold each and every member - and their characters and applications - to. There are limitations set in place so as not to overwhelm the staff members that are on site. We also allow members to try out for "Moderation Skill" group - which is a unique distinction for members who are not Staff members, but are allowed to moderate replies to threads that would normally need a modded reply. This is one way to earn extra character slots, beyond the usual ways to earn excess characters slots!
Members are allowed one character to start. Members can only unlock extra characters based off of the advancement of each previous characters. Members are limited to no more than 4 characters at maximum, unless they are placed into the Moderation Skill group, which are given a limited number of extra character slots. Regardless of Skill groups, each previous characters must earn +1 Badge to unlock a new character slot. That means that the first character must obtain their first badge to create your second character. Likewise, the first character must obtain their third badge, the second their second badge, and the third their first badge to unlock the fourth character.
Only human characters allowed. You can have civilians, trainers, etc. You cannot ask to be GYM Leaders, but you can have goals and aspirations to be "GYM Leaders". No Pokemon or Pokemorph characters. They cannot possess unnatural powers or dangerous weapons - this is to ensure fairness among all players and Modded threads and events. Likewise, humans cannot "battle", "wrangle", etc Pokemon outside of normal (main series) game battling and progression marks.
Characters are allowed a maximum of 1 Modded Thread each. Mods are only needed to moderate NPC Trainer and Wild Pokemon battles and events that would net experience and give their characters the ability to level up through in-game progression. We also encourage characters to have as many natural "slice-of-life" role-play adventures outside of battling that do not call for modded replies or monitoring as they can handle. Characters are allowed to have 1 modded role-play thread each, outside of site wide events or major plots of interest. We encourage our members who are bursting with high levels of muse to consider earning a rank in the "Moderation Skill" group, in order to foster activity and help the site out! (You do not have to, however)
We do not dictate a certain word count for activity. We encourage members to give quality replies instead. We do ask that members post at least two full paragraphs, in which each consists of at least 6 sentences, at a minimum in order to give their roleplaying partners enough to work with within roleplay threads. We would estimate that this would be "roughly 100 words", if it helps some to try and picture what that might look like. But we encourage members to give quality replies over quantity. Applications may require stricter minimums if only to encourage members to "flesh out" their characters, however.
